The total area covered by sand and gravel deposits is 30,000 acres (12 100 ha). Total resources in these deposits are estimated to be 860 million tons (780 million tonnes). Only 670 acres (270 ha) have been selected as Sand and Gravel Resource Areas. Estimated available resources are 35 million tons (32 million tonnes).
Description of operation:
Like oil and gold, aggregate is a non-renewable resource found in specific areas of the province. It is a low cost resource per unit, but because of the tremendous volumes consumed in Ontario its dollar value ranks with the leading mining commodities and industrial minerals.

The Township of Brock has large sand and gravel resources located in the Cannington and Sunderland Eskers. Three Selected Sand and Gravel Resource Areas have an available area of 500 acres (200 ha), with total possible resource of 35 million tons (32 million tonnes). Additional material of lesser quality may be found in a number of secondary areas.
