Train to become a Personal Support Worker
and be prepared to make a difference!

Provincially recognized, this program provides you with the theory and practical training needed to become a Personal Support Worker (PSW). Modules of study include: Individuality, Role of the Worker, Communication, Safety, Mobility, Household Management & Meal Preparation, Abuse, Optimal Support, Personal Hygiene, Assisting the Family, On-Going Conditions, Cognitive Impairment & Mental Health, Medications, and Death & Dying. PSW candidates demonstrate their skills and knowledge at Cooperative Education placements. The mandatory placements will be 270 hours following the in-school theory sessions.

Successful graduates are registered with the Ontario Long-Term Care Association and are qualified to work in long-term care facilities and with community agencies.

New Bridging Program for Health Care Aide to Personal Supplort Worker

Information Sessions:

  • Complete the reading and writing assessment
  • Sessions are 2.5 hours in length
  • No appointment necessary

YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO REGISTER:

  1. One piece of picture identification, and
  2. Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status. You must provide one of the following: Birth Certificate | Passport | Landed Immigrant Papers | Canadian Citizenship Card | Permanent Resident Card

FEES: $499.00

Fees are due upon acceptance into the programme, this fee covers the cost of text book, First Aid/CPR, Name Badge and registration with the Ontario Long-Term Care Association.

Admission Requirements:

  • Criminal Background Check
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Satisfactory Assessment Test of 80%
  • Medical clearance
  • Mandatory attendance at orientation
