Program
Bridging Program for PSW
|
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care have
recently implemented the requirement that the entry
level for employment in the health care profession
is a Personal Support Worker certificate.
|
|
The Bridging Program is for:
-
Health Care Aides currently employed
in health care since 2000
-
Healthcare Support Workers with a certificate
from a recognized facility
-
Personal Care Attendants who have completed
up to Module 7 of the PSW Program
If you currently have the Health Care certificate, but
are not employed in the health care field, please contact
us for further information regarding this program.

Please bring the following documents to your appointment:

One piece of picture identification,
and
-
Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent
Resident Status. You must provide one of the following:
Birth Certificate | Passport | Landed Immigrant Papers
| Canadian Citizenship Card | Permanent Resident Card

Your Health Care certificates
Program & Admission Information:
- All applicants must complete an assessment to determine
educational needs to meet the requirements for the Personal
Support Worker program.
- Each eligible applicant must provide:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident
Status to complete the registration form
- Written proof of 500 hours of related health care
experience within the last 7 years
- Copies of previous certifications and proof of Level
3 First Aid/CPR certification.
- Successful applicants will receive a self directed book
of lessons and assignments to be completed by the program
deadlines. A schedule for the Unit Tests and Performance
Demonstrations will be provided at the Information Session.
Tests and Performance Demonstrations will take place at
Durham Continuing Education, 120 Centre St. S., Oshawa,
in the classroom lab - room 119.
- Interviews with the teacher for the Bridging course
are available by appointment for consultation and guidance
regarding lessons, tests and performance demonstrations.
