The different land uses in the township are Greenland Systems,
Aggregate areas, General Agriculture, Recreational areas, and the shoreline
next to Lake Scugog. These areas differ in physical constraints,
decomposition, location, landscape, contribution to the areas around them,
and the general usage.
The Greenland Systems are areas with physical constraints for
development. These areas have poor drainage, organic soils, flood
susceptibility, erosion, or steep slopes. They include wetlands, significant
wildlife habitats, or significant forest features.
Aggregate areas are for the extraction of minerals such as sand and
gravel.
The General Agriculture areas have no significant environmental
constraints, and have landscape features and views that contribute to the
beauty and the character of the township. These areas include farming,
small scale industries that support the rural area, public uses such as
conservation areas, municipal parks, and reforestation areas.
Recreational areas are lands and buildings used for public or private
recreational activities.
The Shoreline areas are next to Lake Scugog. There are also no
physical or environmental constraints to development on these sites.
